PROCESSES

Etch Primer / PU Surfacer Process

1. Surface Preparation
Etch Primer Nax Ultima Etch primer
Mixing Base : Activator 1 : 1 by volume.
Maturation Time 5 -10 minutes @ 25deg Centigrade
Application( type & no.of coats) Spray Gun at 40-50 PSI, Apply 1 coat using spray gun with 1.6 – 1.8 mm fluid nozzle
DFT 8 – 14 microns
Air dry (at 30°C; 60 – 65% RH) 45 – 60 minutes
  Apply Nax Ultima PUPS wet – on-wet without any sanding on Etch Primer cured as above
Mixing Base : Hardener 4:1: with 35-40% by volume of recommended Thinner
  For temperature < 30°C use PU Medium thinner: For temperature > 30°C & for large area application use PU Slow Thinner
Application( type & no.of coats) Spray Gun at 40-45 PSI, Apply 2 coats using gun of 1.6 – 1.8 mm fluid nozzle
DFT 50 – 60 microns
Drying schedule – Baking at 60°C (effective metal temperature) for 30 minutes
Air dry (at 30°C; 60 – 65% RH) Dry Sandable in 90 -120 Min
Sanding: Dry Sanding P320 grade (for Solid Topcats) & P400 for Metallic Colors
Cleaning Clean with Nax Silicone Off using two – rag process, 1 for application and 1 for wipe-off
Application  
Recommended Mixing Ratio 100 : 2 -3 gms of Activator
Mix thoroughly and carefully  
For filling (upto 3 mm), apply in several layers  
Allowing each to dry between applications allowing each to dry between applications.  
Play time 3 Min
Drying Time 30°C & 60 – 65% RH
Sandability time 20 – 25 min
Flatting Dry sand with P80 – 120 followed by P150 – P220
Overcoatability time After sandability time, Overcoat with Nax PUPS Grey for smooth and uniform surface for topcoat application
Mixing Base : Hardener 4:1: with 35-40% by volume of recommended Thinner
  For temperature < 30°C use PU thinner: For temperature > 30°C & for large area application use PU Slow Thinner

Application 2 coats, ~ 5-10 minutes flash off between coats
Drying schedule: baking at 60°C (effective metal temperature) for 30 minutes

Mixing 1 : 1 with Superio Slow Thinner

Drying schedule: baking Allow 15 – 20 minutes Flash-off @ 30°C & 60 – 65% RH before applying Clearcoat
  Apply Tack-rag between two coats of dry metallic colors and before applying clearcoat
DFT 40 – 50 microns
Mixing 3:1 with 25-30 % Superio Slow Thinner by volume
Pot life @ 30°C & 60 – 65% RH 6 hours
Application Apply 2 coats with 15 mins flash off between coats. Apply at a pressure of 45-50 PSI. using spray gun of fluid nozzle 1.3 – 1.5 mm fluid nozzle
Drying schedule: baking at 60 °C (effective metal temperature) for 30-40 min.
OR  
Air dry @ 30°C & 60 – 65% RH dust free : 30 – 35 min
  Handelable : 4-5 hrs
  into service : Overnight
Remove dust/orange peel, wherever required Wet sanding with P1500 followed by P2000
Rubbing/ polishing (if required) Use Farecla G3 Advanced Liquid 1Step rubbing compound with lamb’s wool pad followed by finishing glaze with polishing pad with machine
To apply Tack-rag between two coats of dry metallic colors and before applying clear coats.
Nozzle size of Spray Gun for primer application shall be 1.6 mm to 1.8 mm.
Nozzle size of Spray Gun for topcoat application shall be 1.3 mm to 1.4 mm.

GI & ALUMINIUM SUBSTRATES

1. Surface Preparation

DFT 20-25 microns
Mixing 1 : 1 with Nax Slow Thinner
Application By spray at 40-45 PSI with a flash-off time of 5 minutes between coats. Apply two to three coats as required. Use spray gun of fluid nozzle 1.3 – 1.5 mm fluid nozzle
Maturation time Not required
Drying schedule Allow 15 – 20 minutes Flash-off @ 30°C & 60 – 65% RH before applying Clearcoat
  Apply Tack-rag between two coats of dry metallic colors and before applying clearcoat
DFT 40 – 50 microns
